Charles (“Chip”) T. Armbruster, III is a Delaware attorney, who only uses Charles when in front of a judicial officer. During law school, classmates somehow began to refer to him as Chip Jones, which apparently is easier to pronounce than his legal name. Mr. Armbruster is the managing member of Tomasetti Law, LLC, a Delaware law firm, which Raymond E. Tomasetti, Jr. (Chip’s uncle) establishedin 2013.

Chip graduated from Indiana University (Bloomington) in 2001 with a degree in Kinesiology. While he earned his master’s degree in higher education administration at Indiana University, he served as a graduate assistant as an Academic Advisor for Student Athletes for IU Athletics. After finishing his master’s degree, Chip continued as an Academic Advisor for his alma mater before moving into IU Athletics NCAA compliance office. As an assistant compliance officer at IU Athletics, Chip provided rules education, monitoring and enforcement of both NCAA and Big Ten Conference eligibility for the Department, coaches and student-athletes. Throughout his professional career at Indiana University, he served as a liaison with the admissions department for incoming student-athletes, aiding students, families and coaches with admissions and eligibility requirements. In 2006, Chip left Indiana University to become the Director of NCAA Compliance at the University of Delaware. At some point, he lost a family arm-wrestling match during the holidays with Mr. Tomasetti, which required him to attend law school.

Chip earned his juris doctorate from Delaware Law School in 2010 and began working with his uncle after his admission to the Delaware Bar in 2010. Chip’s legal practice is a departure from mentoring student-athletes or advising coaches on eligibility, as his early career focused on litigating business and complex contract disputes. With lessons learned from battles in the court room and a desire to spend more time as a father, Chip now focuses on a transactional practice preparing and reviewing contracts, advising Delaware business entities, and assisting clients with estate planning and administration.

Chip is the proud father of two (2) young daughters and enjoys playing golf in his free time.
